In 2007, PTP was approached by the hip hop theater duo Hueman Prophets to complete their 1st music video. The group’s artistic mash-up of socially conscious lyrics over live instrumentation with their theatrical stage shows and golden-era hip hop cadences lent video’s concept to a wide spectrum of ideas. The song, “The Rhythm, The Rebel” speaks directly to the duo’s long history which dates back to early childhood, perseverance during trying times, and the power of words.
After several meetings, it was decided that Hueman Prophets’ video should capture the youthful enthusiasm, high paced energy, and general hopefulness of the song and its creators. The style is reminiscent of old school Sesame Street and Electric Company mixed with DC streets and community. The outcome has been called one of the top music videos in DC’s hip hop history.
